Details: In close collaboration with local Chumash groups, Channel Islands Restoration is establishing a native plant garden in the community. As of 2023, our first project is underway, planting purple needlegrass (Stipa pulchra) and other natives at the San Marcos Foothills West Mesa. We will soon need volunteers to help with native planting and maintenance onsite.

Details: Our Winter Planting Project will allow volunteers to help clear invasive plant species and get their hands dirty to plant native seedlings and create a healthy and nutrient rich environment for surrounding organisms.

Trail volunteers meet each month at the San Marcos Foothills West Mesa, at the end of Via Gaitero Road at 9:00 AM. Registration is free.
