PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT
OF SAN MARCOS FOOTHILLS RECEIVES SIGNIFICANT PUBLIC COMMENT,
HEARINGS SCHEDULED
More than 570 comments were
received by the County on the draft EIR for the Preserve at San Marcos
(PSM) during the comment period that ended June 28, 2004. To conduct the necessary
studies and respond adequately to the detailed, sophisticated, and substantive
nature of the comments, the consultant requested $60,000 additional funds to produce
the Final EIR. The applicant, Bermant Development Company, agreed to pay only
$20,000. Therefore, it is likely that many of the public's comments will not
be adequately addressed in the proposed Final EIR.
